Established in 2013 in Miami Shores, Kogeki Karate is a family-owned and operated traditional Shotokan karate-Do academy. Catering to students aged 3 and older, the dojo provides training for students, referees and coaches, participating in local, statewide, national, and international competitions.
The program, led by Chief Instructor Jose Santaella, a sixth Dan Black Belt with over 40 years of experience, covers Japanese karate, self-defense, conditioning, and traditional weapons.
Sensei Santaella boasts an illustrious martial arts career, having represented Venezuela as a member of the National Karate Team. He previously held the esteemed position of head instructor at the Japan Karate Do Ryobu-Kai Hombu Dojo. In addition, Sensei Santaella serves as the East Coast coordinator for Shotokan USA Karate, working under the guidance of Sensei Alex Sternberg. His dedication to karate is further evidenced by his previous role as an assistant instructor alongside Kaicho Kiyoshi Yamazaki, where he honed his teaching skills and deepened his understanding of martial arts principles.
Sensei Santaella, a five-time USA National Champion, World Karate Federation (WKF ) Judge, Pan-American Karate Federation (PKF AA) Referee, and USA National AA Referee, ensures a safe and controlled environment with the discipline and philosophy of Traditional Martial Arts.
